  1. Excellent, Norbert. This concept is where our standing committees come into play. Each area can form these discussion groups and formulate the concepts and budgets with identifying ongoing costs in the out years so Members understand the fiscal impacts over the life of the projects. The Board should empanel these groups under authorization of the board with leadership of the Board members — not necessarily to be the chair, but to report to the Membership on the projects being developed (another valid reason for a 5 member board to spread out the workload).
Our community is so very blessed with industry experts as Members who can guide these groups in a positive way and fully transparent with announced meetings for all those interested in attending, even if by online presence.
In the end, the Board has to get guidance and buy-in from the majority of the Members to add such costs to the budget.
Projects with little or no costs can be easily implemented. Major projects may need future planning as noted by our campaign goals to avoid surprises and the need for assessments in the out years.
My former industry relies heavily on subject matter experts to help with developing the knowledge base and avoid bad purchasing decisions, i.e. building designs, vehicle designs, clothing specifications, safety gear, etc.
What we don’t know, we can get from industry SME’s.
Loving this program and its formality to allow all Members to participate. Thank you for the excellent framework.
