A Holiday Reflection

A flier showed up in my mail one day.
It had a lot for sale, far, far away.
In Florida of all places, no one would think
it’s worth the trouble to so much as blink
at the idea to go that far,
to get away from high taxes, including on our car.

But, a few days later at JAX, from the arrival gate,
I would set Flagler Beach for my car to navigate.
Arriving finally at the address on the flier I got in the mail
for the grand opening of the Seaside Landings lots for sale.

That day was the beginning of what was to be
the beginning of a long journey,
from north to south, from cold to warm,
and to new friendships which we would soon form.

And for that, as this year’s holidays rapidly approach,
we reflect and feel grateful to all whose paths we’ve crossed
and became good neighbors with and have joined with
to make the best we can of the community where we soon will live.
We are thankful for the friendships and unity
which we are on course to achieve in our community.

And as we veer into what is always an uncertain New Year,
Grace and I would like to wish all our friends, far and near
Joy, Happiness, Good Health, and Holiday Cheer.

  1. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all. Having a great time with friends, neighbors and family this season. Attended the US Navy Band (The Band of the Land) on Sunday night with neighbors. Had a wonderful time and the band was as great as we expected. Quite the band, for sure.

We had attended the high school band and chorus show at the Performing Arts Center a couple of weeks ago. If you ever have a chance to hear them, they are on a higher plane than the typical high school music program (Cindy and I met each other in high school band). They were very good and kicked off the season.

The Boat Parade we attended with 14 other neighbors will be remembered and recounted for years with great fun and unforgettable tales during the event. The Toddtanic will be recalled forever with great affection. Can’t wait for the next flotilla together.

A group of ladies got together, baked cookies, and distributed them to the entire neighborhood with the love of the Season. So, we are blessed to be here in the midst of wonderful neighbors and friends.

No place is perfect and Boca Vista is no different. In the Spirit of the Season, Cindy and I wish each the best.

Free Bird! (Sorry, inside joke resulting from adult libations at Jack and Lois’s house the other night).

    Dave, Cindy, and Dixie

  4. I want to thank all of the ladies of the Seaside Landings Sisters in Christ for the beautiful and delicious box of home made Christmas cookies. It was a pleasant surprise to open my front door and find those wonderful cookies.
These ladies know the true spirit of Christmas. Thank you for your kindness.
    Sincerely, Caroline DeRensis.
PS. They were wonderful. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
